Mad Headed Octogram is a self-confessed raconteur, the thinking man's Alain De Botton. Guitarist for the South-East's angriest purveyors of 'baggy', the Pheromoans, and the first man in London to don a rucksack, and the first to dismiss them as a 'dead trend,' he sees fiction where others seek truths, or wisdom where others are still smelling the coffee. He counts Shovel from M People among his closest
confidants, and it was he who he turned to for help, when opening his new bank account. His stylised poetry can seem too self-conscious at first glance, but settles debates with its frankness, and no doubt starting the odd conflict with its sheer verve. A-Side is a live poetry recording is taken from December 2010 at Ryans Bar in London, with the jazz stylings of Paola Zanetti and Tom Scott on board, in front a small crowd of fellow consciousness junkies. Side B is a studio affair, as Octogram reflects on his time in a Harlem 'flat,' and takes aim at some wearily familiar targets. Check out some live footage of the Octogram
